Daffodils Print by Akane Ogura

$80.00

We collaborated with Brooklyn-based Japanese artist Akane Ogura, who captures fleeting and ethereal moments inspired by nature and femininity.

Her work explores the bittersweetness of life, nature's fragility, and strength as proof of existence. Daffodils symbolize self-love. She represents the Daffodils in a dynamic composition and various Sumi brushstrokes, such as dried, blurred, streaked, and dripped with different tones of Sumi black.

About:

Originally from Ibaraki, Japan, Akane Ogura currently lives and works in New York City. She received her BFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA. Her work combines traditional Japanese Sumi ink drawing with Western Impressionism. Both techniques were, with few exceptions, always heralded by male artists. As a woman, she uses her agency and these traditions to highlight the feminine and embrace emotions, fantasies, and dreams. Her paintings have been exhibited in group exhibitions throughout the US and internationally.
